We are well aware that Organic Farming has a positive environmental benefit, as it maintains biodiversity and soil fertility without contaminating the ecosystem with toxic substances. However, when it comes to the assertion that organic food is actually more nutritious than nonorganic food; most scientists agree there is a need for more research. Fortunately, studies of this type are increasing and many recent studies have concluded that organic food may indeed have higher levels of some nutrients and antioxidants and lower levels of nitrates and harmful residues.
Organic foods contain a higher percentage of antioxidant:
A large meta-analysis published in the British Journal of Nutrition (2014) showed that organic crops ranging from carrot and broccoli to apples and blueberry have subsequently higher concentrations of antioxidants and other potentially beneficial compounds. For example, organic food has about 50% more anthocyanin (provides anti-inflammatory effects) and flavanol compounds (protect cells from damage, which can help fend off disease).
Another study conducted by the international research team outside the United States noted the antioxidant activity and found a 17% mean percentage difference between organic and conventional crops. This antioxidant can cut the risk of cancer and heart diseases.
When assessing individual antioxidants in organic and conventional crops, the organic ones had 19% higher levels of phenolic acids, 69% higher levels of flavanones, 28% higher levels of stilbenes, 26% higher levels of flavones, 50% higher levels of flavanols, and 51% higher levels of anthocyanins.
Overall health benefits:
People eating organic foods have improved immune system, better sleeping habits and are less likely to be overweight than when eating conventional food. Here is a rundown list of the nutritional value of some organic fruits and vegetables compared to the conventional produce.

Contain more nutrients:
Virginia Worthington, M.S., Sc.D., C.N.S. Reviewing 41 published studies comparing the nutritional value of organically grown and conventionally grown fruits, vegetables, and grains, concluded that, there were significantly more of several nutrients in organic crops including 27% more vitamin C, 21.1% more iron, 29.3% more magnesium, and 13.6% more phosphorus.
Organic dairy and meat are healthier:
Meat, poultry, eggs, and dairy products labeled “organic” must come from animals that are “given no antibiotics or growth hormones”.
A new meta-analysis published in the British Journal of Nutrition adds to the evidence that organic production can boost key nutrients in foods. This study shows that organic dairy and meat contain about 50 percent more omega-3 fatty acids as the animals feed on grasses rich in omega-3s, which then end up in dairy and meats. Omega-3s are beneficial to the health because they are linked to reductions in cardiovascular disease, improved neurological development and function, and better immune function.
Organic eggs contain two-thirds more vitamin A, seven times more beta-carotene and three times more vitamin E than conventional eggs. Vitamin A from the organic eggs helps in maintaining the immune system, healthy skin, hair, and eyes. Beta-carotene, which accounts for the dark orange colour of organic egg yolks, functions as an antioxidant, helps to prevent chronic diseases such as cancer and heart disease. Vitamin E is also an antioxidant that helps to maintain healthy red blood cells, nerve function, and cell membranes.
Organic food for your child:
Another study in British Journal of Nutrition showed that 815 two-year-olds who ate organic dairy products had fewer incidents of eczema and wheezing than did the control group, who ate conventionally grown dairy foods. Also, a study done in Mexico showed a higher growth rate in children who ate organically than children from a neighbouring village who did not.
So, choose wisely and go for the food grown organically to have a healthy life. If you are a commercial grower or home gardener, you can ask us to provide you more information on our advance organic products that are 100% certified.
